A senior Finnish delegation, led by the Minister of Foreign Trade and Development, Honorable Ville Tavio, and the Finnish Ambassador to Ethiopia, Honorable Sinikka Antila, along with leaders from Nokia's Middle East and Africa division, met with Ethio Telecom's CEO, Frehiwot Tamru, and senior executives.

Frehiwot Tamru showcased Ethio Telecom's extensive digitalization initiatives aimed at advancing the Sustainable Development Goals (UN-SDGs) in areas such as digital finance, agriculture, education, health, and the mining industry.

These initiatives are designed to accelerate digital transformation beyond mere connectivity, driving significant social and economic development in Ethiopia.

The discussion focused on efforts to expand telecom infrastructure and implement cutting-edge digital finance and solutions to enhance access to telecom services and stimulate economic growth. Plans were explored to improve network coverage, particularly in rural areas, through collaboration with Nokia on various infrastructure projects, with the Finnish government considering financing these initiatives.

The delegation appreciated Ethio Telecom's commitment to enhancing telecom service accessibility and promoting financial inclusion, expressing gratitude for the productive and insightful visit.
